About
We discovered this amazing place at the beginning of 2020, decided to buy the property and moved here from Scotland a few months later.
We are currently in the process of renovating all the buildings - our house, the Gîte and the studio apartment. Working towards opening our doors to guests in the spring of 2022 (though this is very much dependent on Covid and quarantine restrictions).
Since we arrived here, we have enjoyed learning about the nature that this location offers. There are many beautiful trees, flowers, animals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects. The gardens are already a labour of love, they were already organic and permaculture focused, but very overgrown when we arrived and it's been a voyage of discovery to explore and plan for the future.
We have planted more trees in our large field and are going to continue this process every year. Varieties of trees include oak, hazel, walnut, blackthorn, chestnut, horse chestnut, elder, apple, pear, cherry, fig, eucalyptus, acacia and more...
There are many, many brambles - delicious fruit, but abundant thorns too! We have planted raspberries, blackberries, gooseberries and will continue to increase our soft fruit plants. There is a beautiful and very old grapevine at the door to our house, we have taken cuttings so we can have more of the delicious grapes.
We have installed a polytunnel to increase our capability to grow produce all year round. We have invested lots of time working to increase the productive ground in our gardens using organic and permaculture techniques.
There is also a free ranging flock of chickens who provide fresh eggs.
